Traces and echoes of Chopin: The reception of Chopin’s works in the musical output of other composers

As it may be inferred from its topic, the conference will focus on the issue of Chopin's music reception that may be observed in the musical output of composers representing various cultural backgrounds, aesthetic points of view and artistic generations. The main objective is to identify and analyze the different forms that Chopin reception has for many years taken on as well as the impact on individual composers, their aesthetic viewpoints and the shaping of their particular works.
Besides the conference, intended to provide a useful forum for the exchange of views and ideas among music theoreticians and musicologists from a number of Polish (Warsaw, Krakow, Katowice, Gdansk, Bydgoszcz) and European academic centres (Toulouse, Limerick, Vienna, Graz, Kiev, Bratislava, Banská Bystrica, Moscow, Riga), we are also planning to organize concerts, the first of which (22 November 2010) will be a presentation of Chopin's compositions performed by pianists representing different European music milieus. To follow it up we would like to hold a concert (23 November 2010) in which, the latest works composers could be premiered.
