Upon completing the study programmes graduates of the Faculty of Composition, Theory of Music and Sound Engineering obtain the following qualifications:

Composition and Theory of Music

1st degree (BA/ B. Mus.-equivalent) studies

The graduate is a professionally trained musician, exhibiting theoretical and practical knowledge in composition and theory of music. The graduate is prepared to pursue their individual artistic career or begin research work, review work and feature writing or editing for institutions propagating musical culture. Upon completing the Music Pedagogy Programme, pursuant to the standards of teacher training, the graduate is professionally prepared to pursue a teaching career. The graduate has mastered a foreign language at the B2 level (in compliance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). The graduate is prepared to further their education at the 2nd degree level of studies.

2nd degree (MA/ M. Mus.-equivalent) studies

The graduate is a comprehensively trained musician, exhibiting in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge in composition and theory of music. The graduate is prepared to pursue their individual artistic career or begin research work, review work and feature writing or editing. Upon completing the Music Pedagogy Programme, pursuant to the standards of teacher training, the graduate is qualified to pursue a teaching career. The graduate is prepared to further their education at the 3rd (doctoral) degree level of studies.

Sound Engineering

1st degree (BA-equivalent) studies

The graduate has been trained to work with sound in various audio and audiovisual forms: artistic, physico-mathematical and technical. The graduate has acquired general knowledge in liberal arts and specialist knowledge in the psychophysiology of hearing, acoustics, music acoustics, electroacoustics, managing acoustic space, computer technology, analysis of sound signals, as well as principles of analogue and digital sound processing. The graduate exhibits knowledge in the history of music forms and styles, and displays skills in executing various forms of audio recording in music, radio, television and film production. The graduate has been trained to prepare the audio and musical recording of a short film, television or theatrical form as well as the recording of popular music. The graduate is qualified to pursue a career as an audio engineer, assistant of a sound director, sound editor or sound effects editor. The graduate is prepared to work in recording, radio, television and theatre studios, as well as in film-making groups, or in groups providing sound systems and amplification equipment for concerts and open-air events. Upon completing the Music Pedagogy Programme, pursuant to the standards of teacher training, the graduate is professionally prepared to pursue a teaching career. The graduate has mastered a foreign language at the B2 level (in compliance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) and a level of specialist language required for communication in the field of audio recording. The graduate is prepared to further their education at the 2nd degree level of studies.
