Rafał Tworek

Rafał Tworek – pianist, composer, arranger. He is a graduate of the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz in the piano class of Prof. Jerzy Sulikowski. Then, he graduated with honors jazz piano, which he studied with Prof. Włodzimierz Nahorny at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk.

He was a participant in numerous master classes with such professors as Lee Kum Sing, Ewa Pobłocka, Desire N’Kaoua and Andrzej Jasiński. Currently, he is a lecturer at the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz.

He took part in numerous classical and film music projects with the orchestras of the Pomeranian Philharmonic, Gorzów Philharmonic and the Elbląg Chamber Orchestra. In the field of contemporary and electroacoustic music, he collaborated with Marek Chołoniewski, while in film music with such composers as Jan A.P. Kaczmarek or Henryk Kuźniak.

As a jazz pianist, he gave concerts, among others, with Ewa Bem, Ewa Uryga, Karen Edwars, Janusz Szrom, Anna Serafińska, Olga Bończyk, Kuba Badach, Maciej Sikała, Marcin Gawdzis and ElJazz BigBand. In addition, Rafał Tworek is a co-founder of the Tango Cancion group performing Argentinian music.

Currently, he focuses his musical interests on the prepared and amplified piano. This is related to his doctoral dissertation as well as the CD album containing his works for jazz trio.

In the context of religious music, he is the founder of Rafał Tworek Quintet, which performs sacred music in the spirit of jazz. The first album, with Evangelical songs, will be recorded in the spring of 2018.

He also debuted as a composer at the Musica Nova Bydgoszcz in 2016, when he performed the authorial composition titled Grań dedicated for a prepared and an amplified piano with electronic.
