Magdalena Stopińska graduated with honours from the Primary and Secondary State Music School
in Toruń, where she was a student of Danuta Piotrowska.
In 1979, as a Ministry of Culture and Arts scholarship holder, she started studies at the Lviv Conservatory (present-day Ukraine) under the direction of Julia Churdiejewa. In 1984 she graduated from the academy, obtaining a diploma with honours.
In the year of graduation, she started her work as an accompanist at the Academy of Music
in Bydgoszcz. She has collaborated with vocalists and numerous instrumentalists (including violin, double bass, oboe, clarinet, flute, tuba and bassoon players). She has been involved in a long-lasting cooperation with the viola class – first, with professor Zbigniew Frieman and now with professor Lech Bałaban, with whom she often performs – among others, chamber music concerts of a piano trio consisting of Magdalena Stopińska and Agnieszka and Lech Bałaban.
She has accompanied viola players taking part in competitions (Poznań, Cracow, Marktneukirchen (Germany)).
As a student she performed solo with the Pomeranian Philharmonic Orchestra (Rowley’s, Beethoven’s and Rachmaninoff’s concerts). In 2000 she appeared on stage with the Toruń Chamber Music Orchestra playing C. Saint-Saëns’ Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor.
She took part in master classes with professors Jerzy Sulikowski and Ryszard Baksta in Duszniki Zdrój and professors Regina Smendzianka’s and Andrzej Dutkiewicz’s classes in Warsaw.
She also developed her piano skills at chamber music courses conducted by professors Barbara Halska and Ella Susmanek.
At present, apart from being an accompanist at the Faculty of Instrumental Music, Magdalena Stopińska gives piano lessons at the Faculty of Conducting, Jazz Music and Music Education.
Since 1985 she has also been a piano teacher at the Karol Szymanowski Music School in Toruń.
Her students have successfully participated in competitions in different countries and continued their piano education at music academies.
Magdalena Stopińska has been a jury member of regional auditions for primary music school students.
