The Ignacy Jan Paderewski Vocal Music Competition is the second competition in Poland, next to the one held in Warsaw, which is strictly devoted to the vocal aspects of Ignacy Jan Paderewski’s compositions and the vocal literature created during the composer’s lifetime. The Competition is organized by the Faculty of Vocal Music and Drama. Propagating vocal literature created by Paderewski and other composers who lived in his lifetime has become one of the main objectives of the Competition, as well as encouraging young artists to widen their repertoires by choosing less known and partially forgotten compositions, often stored in libraries and private archives. The promotional value of the Competition for talented young artists, the city of Bydgoszcz and the region, and the Polish culture on the global scene cannot be disregarded. The director of the competition is Prof. Hanna Michalak.
